We are currently seeking a Purchasing Administrator to join our team here in Galashiels. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is looking to develop their skills in an office-based environment. Successful applicants will be given on the job training and as their experience grows, they will undergo cross training within the team, enabling them to learn how to manage a variety of products and orders.

This role requires the individual to be highly organised with the ability to manage their own workload. This post is responsible for ensuring clients receive a first-class service and that the provisioning team are well supported in their need to deliver a first class service.

Overall Responsibilities include:

  • Work directly with carriers (telecom network providers) to submit, manage, and complete orders for broadband, telephone lines, SIP Trunks, Mobiles, number porting, number releases and other related services.
  • Resolve service delivery issues with all network provisioning services to ensure timely completion of orders.
  • Provide and perform escalation efforts both internally and externally with GBT suppliers and seek escalation assistance when necessary.
  • Provide excellent customer service and updates as required.
  • Accurately inputting customer details into internal systems and supplier portals
  • Communicating progress of orders with customer and relevant GBT departments
  • Answering incoming calls and queries from customers regarding orders
  • Manage, organise, and update relevant data using database/spreadsheet applications

Requirement & Capability

  • Good communication skills- including face-to-face/ phone/ email
  • Reliable
  • Excellent IT Skills on basic systems e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook and need to be adept at learning new Systems
  • Strong organisations skills, ability to prioritise and demonstrate attention to detail

  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to deal with people at all levels
  • Confidence in a B2B environment customer calling/dispute/raising escalation with service providers and promoting effective service delivery and resolution

The Senior technician’s role is to manage client’s computer hardware, software systems and network connections to ensure high levels of availability and security. The successful individual would also participate in the planning and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure that system provisioning and maintenance is consistent with industry best practices and regulatory requirements. Effectively managing and deploying implementations from conception to delivery will also be a core aspect of the role.

This role requires the individual to be highly organised with the ability to manage their own workload, as well as being a team player. This post is responsible for ensuring all clients receive a first-class service.

Overall Responsibilities include:

  • Participate in and support capacity planning and the development of long-term goals for hardware and software in conjunction with Client’s requirements.
  • Coordinate with internal IT departments to implement desktop and server systems that utilise industry best practices.
  • 3rd line technical skills in Microsoft server technologies
  • 3rd line technical skills in scoping and implementing intel-based hardware.
  • 3rd line skills in Lan, Wan, Firewalls, VPNs, Fortinet preferred but not essential.
  • Virtualization (Hyper-V preferred but not essential), storage, disaster recovery, scoping hardware requirements.
  • Windows server, Exchange server, remote desktop services, Microsoft office, Microsoft office 365 migrations.
  • Manage communications and telephony solutions, VOIP and team’s connectivity
  • Ensure the integrity and security of all data on host computers, databases, and during data transfer in accordance with business needs and industry best-practices regarding privacy, security, and regulatory compliance.
  • Manage end user accounts, permissions, access rights, and storage allocations in accordance with best practices regarding privacy, security, and regulatory compliance.
  • Perform network and security audits on client’s systems and remediate any problems.
  • Perform and test routine system backups and restores.
  • Anticipate, mitigate, identify, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware and software problems on servers and workstations. Escalate incidents, as necessary.
  • Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information.
  • Analyze client system, server, application, and network device performance.
  • Recommend, schedule, and perform software and hardware improvements, upgrades, patches, reconfigurations, and/or purchases. Maintain all security on client systems.
  • Conduct research on emerging products, services, protocols, and standards in support of systems software procurement and development efforts.
  • Create required reports in response to business and client’s needs.
  • Participate in negotiations with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure software products and services.
  • Develop, document, and maintain policies, procedures and associated training plans for system administration and appropriate use.
  • Manage and/or provide guidance to junior members of the team.
  • Any other responsibilities as required of the post.

Requirement & Capability

  • College Education or university degree in a computer related subject or 3 years equivalent work experience.
  • Any Certification in an IT related field is advantageous such as A+ or MCP or network related cert.
  • Working technical knowledge of network, PC, and platform operating systems, including Microsoft server and desktop OS.
  • Application support experience with the office 365 suite of products
  • Working technical knowledge of current systems software, protocols, and standards, including firewalls, Active Directory etc.
  • Strong knowledge of local area network administration.
  • Hands-on software and hardware troubleshooting experience.
  • Experience documenting and maintaining configuration and process information.
  • Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with a focus on rapport building, listening, and questioning skills.
  • Strong documentation skills.
  • Fluent English language skills.
